MoBlogs: Flipped Classroom
In this weeks lesson, we have been discussing flipped classrooms and why they are important. A flipped classroom is where the students do the learning at home and then come into class the next day and discuss any questions they might have. The teacher can also add an activity into the class time that is related to the lesson. This weeks assignment for our class was to create our own flipped classroom assignment. Below is all the information about my flipped classroom. The lesson I chose was over counting, which ranged in the K-2 graders. The objective, lesson video, introductory video from the teacher, activity, and feedback that will be used for this flipped classroom assignment is attached below. I hope you enjoy!

Lesson video:

Teacher introductory video:

Objective: The student will be able to count using the number grid.

Opening and intro activity:
From teacher: Hello my math wizards! Today’s lesson will be over the number grid. I have attached a video for you to watch. This video is an introductory video that shows interesting patterns when counting. After watching this video, I’m assigning homework so please pay attention. I’m asking that you can write numbers 1-50 by using the number grid in the video. I’m wanting you to use different color pencils/pens to show different place values. This will be due as soon as you walk in the door. Have fun and see you in class tomorrow!

Student independent activity: After watching the video, be able to write numbers 1-50 using colored pencils/pens to show different place values.

Classroom Instructional Strategy/Activity:
In class tomorrow we will be playing a game called Mingle, Mingle, Mingle. In this game you will have to demonstrate in a group on what was covered in the video.

Evaluation/feedback on knowledge: I would have a problem on the board and give every student a post it and they have to put answer the question. Then they will put it on the board under the section that they think is right.

  2. I agree with Professor Pearce completely, you definitely gave counting an exciting twist as a flipped classroom. I feel like the level of work connects to the students age giving them a fair chance at learning it before class.

  3. This was amazing! I love everything you did, you gave specific details on where to go and what to do, and even what you were going to do thee next day. This was one the best things I have seen a teacher do for a flipped classroom and you did it better then a teacher I had who has been teacher for over 20 years! Great job Mo!! Hated to follow you after this lol

  4. It is pretty coo how peopleover co e their obstacles. Sometimes with the belp of others, but it happens. People go through their own personal struggles and yet still come out on top.
